This was actually written by Berkeley, but I thought you would like to hear about what's going on out here! Love Elby x
Operation Thailand
This team of 5 set out on our mission on the 7th of January of 2010 at 06:00 hours. Destination; Thailand. Duration of stay: 2 months. Purpose: To make God known. Do we have our luggage? Check. People? Check. Money, passports, toothbrushes donated for the Thai people? Check. Everything was ago so we left Charlotte with a warm fairwell. From Charlotte we flew to Washington DC, from DC to Tokyo and then from Tokyo to Thailand. Finally, destination reached. And after 30 or so hours of travel, there couldn't be a more beautiful thought. We were here. No longer were we talking or praying about it, we were in the heart of Thailand. Luggage. Check...Without a problem, to the relief of our valiant Commandar Elby and myself. Ride from Airport. Check. Cultural Orientation. Check.
A few days in the city of our arrival and then an overnight bus ride landed us in the north, where we'll be staying for a few weeks. We unpacked our bags and settled into the area. First things first, we scouted it out; finding the local market, internet cafe and the place where we'll be ministering in the evenings. All the while laying a thick foundation of prayer while walking. A.KA. a Prayer Walk. The afternoons have mostly been ladened with prayer, intercession, worship, and prayer walks. The evenings have been where the most action have been... Our night ministry is intense times of combat, of the devil in his territory, and relationships, of women that normally get overlooked by a caring person. Our team plunged right into the scene with bright smiles and the warm loved given to them by Jesus himself. We've established relations with a few women, who seem to be warming up to the idea of western women having an interest in talking to them. Score one for our side. The love of Christ is really what's making the difference in the women's heart, not our words, no matter how eloquent they are.
So for review: We arrived safely to Thailand and had a quick transition to the north. The team jumped right into the culture and ministry from day one with prayer walks, ministry at night, and even conducting a kids program for a day and a church service the next. Relationships have been established in a number of different places with a few women, and God is doing a great work in the midst of our conversations. We have a few more weeks in the north, and we will make the most of the time here.
~~Also, remember to pray. One, for strength, love and discernment, and Two, that we would be effective in infiltrating the enemy's army and hitting him where it hurts!!!
This is Lieutenant Berkeley, signing out.
